Resumo: Mechanical ventilation is an alternative when patients have difficulties in cases with acute or chronic respiratory insufficiency. A teaching prototype for mechanical spontaneous and artificial ventilation in health and biotechnological courses is provided. Materials and methods: research was performed in the Laboratory of Bio-morphology and Experimental Pathology of the Universidade Severino Sombra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Transparent polypropylene syringes, 50 and 60 ml, ethyl polyterephthalt container (PET, 250 ml), a needle, a cork stopper, a latex balloon, a double lumen, silicon for sealing, a compressor, an analogical manometer, a drip, an air exhalation value and rubber tubes were employed. Results: the prototype of lung and artificial mechanical ventilation represented a mechanical analogy for diaphragm function and for the functioning of the mechanical ventilation which is the apparatus used for artificial lung ventilation. The apparatus eases visualization and the understanding of the physiological functioning of the respiratory system. Conclusion: the use of recycled material as an alternative strategy in teaching provided a viable and easily available resource that is low cost and greatly applicable in the context of the nature and characteristics of available material.

Saúde e Pesquisa; v. 5 n. 3 (2012): set./dez.2176-9206reponame:Saúde e Pesquisa (Online)instname:Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisainstacron:CESUMARporhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/article/view/2453/1806Nagato, Akinori CardozoDiniz, Mirla FiuzaBandeira, Ana Carla BaltharBezerra, Frank Silvainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2020-09-04T20:16:03Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/2453Revistahttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesqPUBhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/oainaep@cesumar.br2176-92061983-1870opendoar:2020-09-04T20:16:03Saúde e Pesquisa (Online) - Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisafalse
