Resumo: Due to cultural issues, car traffic was, at a time, a male environment, and is still liable to preconceived ideas when females are at the driving wheel. Female insertion in traffic occurred fast and in large strides. It has become necessary to evaluate the adhesion of traffic safety equipments by females, above 18 years old, within the urban context. Current transversal and descriptive research, featuring a home survey, with a qualitative approach, was undertaken in the municipality of Pau de Ferro, Brazil, in 2015. Female´s age bracket was between 30 and 49 years, most of whom had complete and incomplete basic schooling, married or widows. Equipment use within the town had a lower rate in spite of the fact that women are considered more careful and obedient to traffic laws. Younger females tend to use safety equipments less frequently on the road. Monitoring the urban milieu should be more efficient. Results reveal that young females are more resistant and conscience-raising for the adhesion of safety equipments should be stimulated.

Results reveal that young females are more resistant and conscience-raising for the adhesion of safety equipments should be stimulated.O trânsito, por questões culturais, tornou-se um ambiente masculinizado e que ainda é cercado de preconceitos quando o assunto é mulher ao volante. Universidade Cesumar - UniCesumar2018-08-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionestudo transversal, pesquisa quantitativa,application/pdfhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/article/view/633410.17765/1983-1870.2018v11n2p369-375Saúde e Pesquisa; Vol 11 No 2 (2018): maio/ago.; 369-375Saúde e Pesquisa; v. 11 n. 2 (2018): maio/ago.; 369-3752176-9206reponame:Saúde e Pesquisa (Online)instname:Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisainstacron:CESUMARporhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/article/view/6334/3253Felix, Francisco Edilanio GomesNascimento, Ellany Gurgel Cosme doinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2022-07-01T18:47:07Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/6334Revistahttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesqPUBhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/oainaep@cesumar.br2176-92061983-1870opendoar:2022-07-01T18:47:07Saúde e Pesquisa (Online) - Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisafalse
