Resumo: Anatomic and functional elements are required for equilibrium maintenance. Current analysis studies the static equilibrium of people with transtibial amputation and compares them to non-amputated individuals´ static equilibrium. It also verifies whether displacement of the body force centre occurred. Sample comprised a group of 8 individuals with transtibial amputation and a control group of 8 people. Each group was submitted to the baropodometric test and photographed during 30 seconds, later analyzed by SAPO. Results were statistically significant for the oscillation of the head but no statistical prove was provided for trunk oscillation. Force centre of people with amputation exerted a greater force on the forefoot. Adequate re-habilitation is enhanced and new researches aiming at people more prepared for daily activities and more efficient and functional prosthesis are underscored.
