Resumo: | Accelerated stability tests provide conditions of fast aging to cosmetic formulations and may evaluate the physical, physical-chemical, chemical and functional stability profile. Vitamin C is one of the most common in topic products for skin care. However, the topic administration of Vitamin C has a low efficiency due to its instability. Current research evaluates the accelerated stability of different formulations with Vitamin C to investigate the efficiency of antioxidants and establish conditioning and storage conditions. Three gel types were dispensed for antioxidants: Gel 1 contained only EDTA; Gel 2 contained sodium metabisulfate; Gel 3 contained the two antioxidants. Gels were then conditioned in plastic and aluminum tubes and stored at 5ºC, room temperature and 40ºC. Samples were analyzed with regard to consistence, organoleptic characteristics, pH and Vitamin C rates on 0, 30, 60 and 90 days. The most stable samples during 90 days were those with the two antioxidants, in aluminum tubes, and stored at 5ºC. Since Vitamin C is highly unstable in formulations, particularly in gels, results demand certain care by the dispenser, such as the use of the synergic antioxidant system with sodium metabisulfate and EDTA, conditioning in aluminum tubes and storing at 5ºC (fridge) should be written as a note on the label. |
