Resumo: It is possible to observe in articles, books, meetings and even in the informaldiscussions of those who dedicate themselves to bioethics that the notion ofwhat this field of study and research consists of is still restricted to the conflictsand problems established in the biomedical area, subsumed to the obstacles inthe relationships between health service professionals and users, as well as toethics in the use of technology. Although the direct relationship between healthand illness with the dynamics of social life, and with the distribution of wealth andopportunities in society, is already recognized, these aspects are still treated astopics far removed from the field of bioethics.

Aunque ya se reconozca la relación directa de la salud y la enfermedadcon la dinámica de la vida social, con la distribución de la riqueza y de las oportunidades en la sociedad, tales aspectos aún son tratados como temas distantes del campo de actuación de la Bioética.É possível observar em artigos, livros, encontros e mesmo nas discussões informaisdaqueles que se dedicam à bioética que a noção do que seja esse campode estudo e pesquisa ainda se restringe aos conflitos e problemas estabelecidos naárea biomédica, subsumida aos entraves nas relações entre profissionais e usuáriosdos serviços de saúde, bem como à ética no uso da tecnologia.
