Resumo: Thesis Statement: This work analyzes the construction of the right to memory and truth in the Inter-American System of Human Rights according to Hannah Arendt's concepts of testimony and truth.Methodology: This is a jurisprudential research based on a legal-theoretical method. Decisions claiming recognition of the right to memory and truth before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights will be systematized and analyzed through the qualitative method.Results: First, the outlines of the definition of memory and truth within the inter-American Human Rights system are presented. According to such material contents, the debate on the right to memory to realize the truth is based on testimony and victims' role in the works Eichmann in Jerusalem and Truth and Politics by Hannah Arendt.Contributions: The right to the truth is necessary for public political space, and facts cannot be reduced to mere opinion; on the contrary, opinions can be extracted only from the facts. The recognition of this right contributed to transitional justice processes, which also recognized the right to memory. In today's society, as acknowledged by the inter-American jurisdiction, the right to the truth must be guaranteed to society as a presupposition of the democratic environment.

Las decisiones que reclaman el reconocimiento del derecho a la memoria y a la verdad ante la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos se sistematizaron y serán analizadas a través del método cualitativo.Resultados: En primer lugar, se presentan los lineamientos de la definición de memoria y verdad dentro del sistema interamericano. De acuerdo con tales contenidos materiales, el debate sobre el derecho a la memoria para realizar la verdad se sitúa a partir del papel del testimonio y de las víctimas en las obras Eichmann en Jerusalén y Verdad y Politica de Hannah Arendt.Aportes: El derecho a la verdad es necesario en un espacio público político y los hechos no pueden reducirse a mera opinión; por el contrario, sólo de los hechos se pueden extraer opiniones. El reconocimiento de este derecho contribuyó a los procesos de justicia transicional, reconociendo también el derecho a la memoria. En la sociedad actual, como lo atestigua la jurisdicción interamericana, el derecho a la verdad se garantizará a la sociedad como presupuesto del ambiente democrático.Objetivo: Este trabalho analisa a construção do direito à memória e à verdade no Sistema Interamericano de Direitos Humanos de acordo com conceitos de testemunho e verdade em Hannah Arendt.Metodologia: Trata-se de uma pesquisa jurisprudencial, baseada em método jurídico-teórico. Serão sistematizadas e analisadas decisões em que se pleiteou reconhecimento de direito à memória e à verdade perante a Corte Interamericana de Direitos Humanos, por intermédio do método qualitativo.Resultados: Apresentam-se primeiramente os contornos da definição de memória e verdade no âmbito do sistema interamericano. De acordo com tais conteúdos materiais, é situado o debate sobre o direito à memória para se realizar a verdade a partir do papel do testemunho e das vítimas nas obras Eichmann em Jerusalém e Verdade e Política de Hannah Arendt.Contribuições: O direito à verdade é necessário em um espaço público político, e os fatos não podem ser reduzidos à mera opinião; ao contrário, é somente a partir dos fatos que se podem extrair opiniões. O reconhecimento desse direito contribuiu para os processos de justiça de transição, reconhecendo-se também o direito à memória.
