Resumo: | In this article we seek to approach the interesting artistic plot of Josefina Plá. Considering the breadth of Plá's work, which runs through the various genres of writing and also develops in the visual arts, we decided to focus on his essay work, in which the artist reveals a large part of her plots on the artistic work she employs in her works both literary and plastic. The threads that make up the fabric of Josefina Plá's work go through the bias of popular culture and modernity: threads that guide an artistic plot created in the heart of Latin America. The articulations of modernity and popular culture in the work of Josefina Plá seem to us to be a central issue to question the author's contribution to Latin American culture. In his fictional, essayistic and plastic work he mixes motives and expressions of popular culture with forms and techniques of erudite culture, granting new perspectives to popular culture, in which it should not be viewed in a disparaging way, as if it had less value than erudite culture. . When analyzing the essay Ñanduti: crossroads of the worlds, we realize that Josefina Plá explores in different ways the duality present in ñanduti. Modernity is based on the very duality of man to be realized. It is impossible to think of Latin America as unique, more than anything else it is a succession of dualities, that is, taking up the concept of García Caclini, a hybrid. A place that was built by a hybridization process of several cultures. Both the culture of the indigenous peoples and that of the European colonizer and that of the African slave. Ñanduti was built in Paraguay as a hybrid. Of Spanish origin, it was in Paraguay, and through this place, which developed, absorbed its culture, intertwined with its women, is part of its spirit. Country symbol. The ñanduti hybrid is one of the threads that build the weave that results in the dense and heterogeneous fabric that is Latin America. |

Símbolo do país.
