O artigo examina como o legado da historiografia portuguesa reverbera nas narrativas sobre a presença holandesa no Atlântico Sul (1630-1654), indicando que, embora as obras devam ser lidas em diálogo com seus contextos históricos específicos, suas concepções de historia e certos elementos retóricos que as caracterizam se inspiram em um paradigma historiográfico enraizado na Península Ibérica. The article examines how the legacy of Portuguese historiography echoes in the narratives of the Dutch presence in the South Atlantic (1630-1654), indicating that, although these works must be read in dialogue with their specific historical contexts, their ideas about the writing of history and some rhetorical elements that characterize them are inspired in a historiography paradigm with deep roots in Iberia.
