Resumo: The work refers to the study of the doctrine of political philosophy called multiculturalism. The need to understand contemporary society, made them chose to investigate the theories behind the main claims by vulnerable or minority groups. The problem to be answered is: How to ensure the implementation of fundamental rights in a pluralistic society, recognizing the particularities of minority groups and promoting actions to achieve material equality? The hypothesis is that multiculturalism brings the ability to reflect on these issues and offers a new look to address the social conflicts of the twenty-first century.

O problema que se pretende responder é: Como garantir a aplicação dos direitos fundamentais numa sociedade plural, reconhecendo as particularidades de grupos minoritários e promovendo ações para se alcançar a igualdade material?
