Resumo: This article aims to reconsider Robert Cover's thought over the discussions about global law. At first, describes the key features of the transnational legal orders which take place at globalization. Then searches to place Cover at global law by his ideas of nomos and the creation of legal meaning (jurisgenesis). Lastly, suggests that Cover's original insights about the relationship between violence and legal interpretation may help to understand questions about regulation and social control of legal regimes at transnational level.

Em um primeiro momento, descreve-se as características fundamentais das ordens jurídicas transnacionais que emergem no contexto da globalização. Em seguida, procura-se situar Cover no âmbito do direito global com base em suas ideias de nomos e de construção de significado jurídico (jurisgenesis).
