Resumo: Promove um olhar crítico-reflexivo sobre os dois últimos governos do regime militar brasileiro, ocorrido entre 1964-1985 para verificar, pela análise dos discursos e das práticas dos referidos governos, a existência objetiva de um projeto de transição para a democracia ou se se tratava de um projeto para a manutenção das bases autoritárias através de novas instrumentalizações. A opção pelos governos Geisel e Figueredo se dá, porque esses costumam ser associados ao processo de abertura para a redemocratização. A análise da questão suscitada é promovida com a utilização da metodologia dialético-descritiva, consubstanciada na pesquisa bibliográfica e documental.
