Resumo: | The present article addresses the relationship among slaves and masters within the Luso-American society, relying on historiographical approaches that had emerged from the debate of this theme. Its main purpose is to analyse certain aspects concerning this relationship, such as how it has shaped in different historical situations and if there was black resistance or not against the system. The author is based on the important discussions made by Brazilian historians. On the one hand, João José Reis and Eduardo Silva have discussed the forms of resistance created by oppressed black people. On the other hand, Ciro Flamarion Cardoso, Maria Yedda Linhares, Francisco Carlos and Jacob Gorender have offered a discussion of the so-called peasant breach within the scope of slave system. |
