Resumo: The article starts from an analysis of sources collected among the written press of Rio de Janeiro in the first six months of 1945 to delineate a view of the political context at the last moments of Brazilian New State. The oppositions grew during the period when the struggle against Nazifascists dictatorships ranked high at the international scenery, and there is no doubt the performance of journalists was important to form public opinion at the time that censorship lost strength.
