Resumo: Aborda a questão da representação do conhecimento a partir das dificuldades existentes no uso das classificações documentárias objetivando a recuperação e disseminação de informações. Foi feita inicialmente uma rápida abordagem sobre as principais correntes filosóficas, organizando-as por períodos. De cada corrente filosófica foram extraídos conceitos sobre representação da realidade e as influências sofridas em sua elaboração.
