Palliative care in pediatrics is an integral part of care, and improving them is a prerogative of fundamental importance, as they are used to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents at any stage of their treatment. OBJECTIVE: To identify the relevance of palliative care for pediatric patients and how nursing interventions influence the course of treatment. METHOD: Study of an integrative review of articles based on pediatric palliative care. Only articles published in the period 2010 to 2020, in the English and Portuguese languages, published in the databases: MEDLINE, LILACS and BDENF, were adopted as an inclusion method, 146 articles were identified. RESULTS: The analysis of the data presented is related to schoolchildren who need immediate care in order to have a quality of life. The final sample of this article was developed by six articles using the inclusion criteria previously established. CONCLUSION: The integrative review of the selected articles revealed the importance for the pediatric patient, their family members and for the multidisciplinary team to adopt palliative care. It was possible to highlight the need for emotional support, pain relief and firming of emotional bonds to provide good memories, in addition to considering what can be improved in the care plan, such as its early implementation, since the diagnosis of the disease, in order to obtain greater effectiveness.
