The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Preexposure Prophylaxy (PrEP) is a globally recognized pharmacological approach, it consists of a daily dose of antiretroviral agents, used to reduce HIV’s contamination rate. This combined prevention program was first offered by Brazil’s Public Health System (SUS) in 2017, using Orientation and Advisement Centers (COA) to deliver it. This study’s objective is to analyze the epidemiologic profile of PrEP users taken care by Curitiba’s COA, and to analyze the presence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as syphilis, hepatitis B and C in these users. It’s an analytical, transversal study, using database provided by the Information System of Testing and Advisement Center (SiCTA), It has been observed that PrEP users are mostly young, white, single mans, that fit the men who have sex with men category (MSM). It has been defined that, even though the HIV PrEP represents a major role in HIV prevention, it’s extremely important to encourage combined prevention, because there is a significant ratio between the lack of barrier methods, and positive syphilis’ tests. Finally, it’s concluded that this study hasn’t been able to establish a connection between the use of HIV PrEP and increased STIs positive results.
