Hello, this booklet is for you who believes in the importance of human rights, and how essential they are to citizen education. Knowing about fundamental rights and protection mechanisms are indispensable elements for an inclusive education, which leads us to understand living in a society of rights with cultural and social diversity. This booklet was carried out by the Fundamental Rights and Child Labor Extension Project (PRODFTIN), of the Law course of the University Center of João Pessoa - UNIPÊ, which aims to develop, together with the community of the municipality of João Pessoa-PB, awareness actions, debate and clarification of the fundamental rights of children and youth, in particular on child labour and the rights of young workers. Due to the pandemic, which began in March 2020, PRODFTIN could no longer act in person in schools, thus producing booklets with fundamental rights for public and private schools. There were five booklets with themes on: education, work, health, environment and violence. The booklets were organized and produced by teachers and students linked to prodftin during the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021. The idea is to pass on information, with simple language, about fundamental rights covid-19 pandemic, to promote knowledge and empowerment of the community, about what their rights and duties are in this difficult period. The pandemic has caused major changes in the lives of the population, generating uncertainties about the future, with thousands of deaths of people contaminated by the new coronavirus, periods of closure and opening of schools and commerce, increased unemployment and domestic violence, as well as psychological problems. The theme addressed in this booklet is work. The exploitation of labor in the labor market suffers limitations inherent to the protection of the dignity of the worker, and when it comes to children and adolescents, the regulations establish integral and special protection. The main rules on child labor, the protection of the rights of young workers, the apprenticeship contract, the internship and how to qualify for the labor market were explored, analyzing fundamental rights provided for in the Federal Constitution, situations of labor violations and where to seek help to combat these irregularities. Some questions were also raised about changes to the employment contract during the pandemic, its consequences for workers' rights. Finally, we seek, in a summarized way, to deal with the main social security benefits guaranteed to the worker. Without the pretense of exhausting the subject, the proposal presents some of the legislation, the responsible bodies and the important actions for the defense of the social fundamental rights of the worker.
