This work seeks to establish a discussion about the concept of faith linked to the analysis of human development according to the theoretical approach of the American psychologist James William Fowler. For this purpose, the concept of faith addressed in Fowler's Stages of Faith (1981) is investigated. Fowler conceives faith as an object of study in psychology, starting from theoretical bases of human development psychology in line with structural developmental theory. The author considers faith as a true quality of human living that helps to build the meaning of existence. For better understanding, this work is divided into 3 parts, the first part will characterize the process of constituting human faith and human development, the second part will address a brief contextualization of the psychological scenario by which the psychology of human faith development originated. , and in the third part the central ideas of the Fowlerian concept of faith and description of the evolution of the stages of faith will be presented. It is hoped that this study can contribute through the theory of stages of faith as a complementary method for the performance of clinical psychological practice, adhering to academic knowledge as part of the framework of human development.
