Resumo: | Due to negative temperature, the freezing process of semen has adverse effects for the sperm cell such as loss of motility, vigor and increased morphological changes. With the addition of thinners and cryoprotectors this impact is decreased. Equex STM® is a surfactant added to thinners with the intention of decreasing osmotic shock and improving semen quality. The active ingredient of this product is sodium sulfate (DSS) detergent. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of sodium sulfate dodecil (SSD) on sheep semen in glycine, yolk and milk thinner medium. Semen of 5 sheep was collected in four different moments, with an interval of one week. A semen pool divided into a control group composed of glycine thinner, yolk, milk and a treatment group was created with the addition of SSD to the same thinner. Factors such as whirlwind, motility, vigor and semen concentration were evaluated, in both groups, before freezing and after thawing to categorize the effect of detergent. After the experiment and statistical analysis it was concluded that the sodium sulfate dodecil added in glycine, yolk, milk showed no improvement in the quality of thawed sheep semen. |

Com a adição de diluidores e crioprotetores esse impacto é diminuído. O Equex STM® é um surfactante adicionado a diluidores com a intenção de diminuir o choque osmótico e melhorar a qualidade do sêmen. O princípio ativo desse produto é o detergente dodecil sulfato de sódio(DSS). Por isso, esse estudo tem como objetivo principal analisar o efeito do dodecil sulfato de sódio(DSS) no sêmen ovino em meio diluidor de glicina, gema e leite. Foi coletado sêmen de 5 carneiros, em quatro momentos distintos, com intervalo de uma semana. Foi criado um pool de sêmen dividido em grupo controle composto por diluidor de glicina, gema, leite e um grupo tratamento com a adição do DSS ao mesmo diluidor. Fatores como turbilhonamento, motilidade, vigor e concentração do sêmen foram avaliados, em ambos os grupos, antes da congelação e após descongelamento para categorizar o efeito do detergente.
