Resumo: Neonatal Screening (NT) is performed all over the world to screen for genetic and congenital diseases that can be identified in the first days of life of the newborn (NB). Each continent has its way of performing NT, thus aiming at screening for the most common diseases in their regions, with sickle cell disease and congenital hypothyroidism as the most screened diseases in their NT programs. In Brazil, in 1990, NT became mandatory in all states, and in 2001, ordinance nº 822 was enacted, which sought to standardize its program and expand the range of screened diseases, and in 2021, law 14,154 was enacted, expanding from 6 to 14 the number of disease groups screened in NT, bringing the so-called “extended foot test” to the Unified Health System (SUS), however this process is still in the implementation phase, and will be put into practice gradually. This study aims to compare the NT performed in Brazil and in the regions of Asia, Africa and Europe, aiming to list key points and flaws in all the analyzed programs, from their mandatory, free, screened diseases and public policies for carrying out the test. It is an integrative review study being carried out of a qualitative descriptive type, where results from the Scielo and PubMed databases were used. After extensive research, we managed to achieve the objective and see that, despite the difficulties, the Brazilian TN is quite advanced in relation to some countries in the world.

After extensive research, we managed to achieve the objective and see that, despite the difficulties, the Brazilian TN is quite advanced in relation to some countries in the world.
