Resumo: University campuses, through their facilities and the many activities that take place at them, concentrate numerous people of, such as teachers, students, administrative collaborators, suppliers and visitors. All of these activities generate environmental impacts and consequently need mitigation to promote sustainability. Recently, classifications have emerged that aim to measure and compare the level of sustainability in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) around the world, in order to encourage good environmental sustainability practices and minimize the impacts on the environment of the higher education sector. This research was carried out with a university campus as the object of study that participates in the classification of the Green Metric World Rankings. The objective of the research was to propose a method for defining environmental sustainability guidelines on university campuses, based on metrics used in the global classification of sustainable universities. Methodologically, the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was used to support the decisionmaking process based on the evaluation criteria of the Green Metric World Rankings. Waste, water, and energy data were also used as well as internal reports from the environmental management system (EMS) department of the studied campus, in addition to the application of questionnaires with employees who participate directly and indirectly in the EMS in the technical, operational, and financial areas. The results include the construction of the method based on the Green Metric criteria and oriented to AHP, its appropriation in different scenarios being recommended. The indicative of guidelines developed suggest the expansion of environmental sustainability in the studied campus. The AHP results identify sustainability needs such as requiring investments in the construction of a structure for the storage of rainwater in the classroom blocks (with 27.3% of respondents favoring this choice) and the installation of photovoltaic panels in the same blocks (with an AHP weight of 21.7%). The guidelines elaborated in the research herein propose the consolidation of the participation in sustainability classifications for universities, the involvement of senior management to strengthen the implementation of action plans for environmental improvement, control, the maintenance of data and records according to the Green Metric criteria, and the use of the AHP method for decision making.

Dessa forma, há várias atividades que geram impactos ao meio ambiente e consequentemente necessitam mitigação para promover a sustentabilidade ambiental. Recentemente, surgiram classificações que visam medir e comparar o nível de sustentabilidade em Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) ao redor do mundo, com o intuito de incentivar as boas práticas de sustentabilidade ambiental e a minimização dos impactos ao meio ambiente do setor de educação superior. A presente pesquisa foi elaborada tendo um campus universitário como objeto de estudo e que participa da classificação do Green Metric World Rankings. O objetivo da pesquisa foi propor um método para melhoria da sustentabilidade ambiental em campi universitários, a partir de métricas utilizadas em classificação mundial de universidades sustentáveis. Metodologicamente, a Análise Hierárquica de Processos (AHP) foi utilizada como referência para o processo de tomada de decisão com base nos critérios de avaliação do Green Metric World Rankings. Utilizou-se ainda dados de resíduos, água e energia, bem como relatórios internos do departamento de Sistema de Gestão Ambiental (SGA) do campus estudado, além da aplicação de questionários junto aos colaboradores que participam direta e indiretamente do SGA nas áreas técnica, operacional e financeira. Entre os resultados estão: (i) a construção do método baseado nos critérios do Green Metric e orientado à AHP, sendo recomendado sua apropriação em cenários distintos; e (ii) o indicativo de propostas de melhoria da sustentabilidade ambiental para IES estudada que sugerem ampliação da sustentabilidade ambiental, como por exemplo: demandar investimentos na construção de estrutura para armazenamento de água da chuva nos blocos didáticos, com 27,3% de peso na escolha; e realizar a instalação de painéis fotovoltaicos nos mesmos blocos, com peso de 21,7% de peso na classificação sendo estas as prioritárias entre as cinco propostas definidas como possíveis. De maneira complementar, surgem ainda recomendações para aplicação do método em outras IES, como: (i) consolidar a participação da IES em classificações de sustentabilidade para universidades no sentido de compor um histórico de avaliação; (ii) envolver a alta direção para fortalecimento e execução de planos de ação de melhoria da qualidade ambiental; (iii) controlar e manter atualizados os dados e registros de acordo com os critérios do Green Metric; e (iv) adotar o método da AHP como ferramenta de referência para tomadas de decisão.
