Estudo comparativo entre inserção do DIU TCU 380a no pós-parto imediato versus pós-parto tardio em um hospital público de Curitiba

INTRODUCTION: the IUD is a very effective contraceptive method, with a 99% success rate. It is provided by SUS and lasts for 10 years. As it is a long-lasting method, it is an ally in family planning, but only 1.9% of women of childbearing age use this method. OBJECTIVE: to evaluate the need and to compare the insertion of the IUD in the immediate and late puerperal period regarding the collateral effects, the expulsion rate and to evaluate reinsertion of the method after expulsion. METHODS: a retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out in which all women who had inserted the TCu380A IUD at the Complexo Hospitalar do Trabalhador in Curitiba, Paraná, between October 2018 and October 2019, were analyzed. The collected data were organized in an electronic spreadsheet using the Excel program. Statistical analyzes were performed using the Graph Pad Prism 5.0 and SPSS 17.0 software. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests were applied to assess the normality of the quantitative data. RESULTS: 220 records were evaluated, of which 182 were included in the study. Of these, 46.2% inserted the IUD in the immediate PP and 53.8% in the late PP. During the insertion of the method, 2.7% of patients had complications. Of the patients who spontaneously expelled the method, a rate of 5.5% was found, with the immediate PP having the highest expulsion rate (10.7%) compared to the late PP (1.02%). CONCLUSION: it was found that the most respondents inserted the method in late PP, and this is the method with the lowest rate of spontaneous expulsion.
