Resumo: Aging is a physiological phenomenon that affects connective tissue, in which one of the important components is the matrix, which, once reduced, causes several changes in the skin, which can be minimized from electrotherapy resources, such as radiofrequency. Radiofrequency (RF) is characterized by the emission of high-frequency electrical currents, which provide heat when in friction with the tissues of the human body, therefore, it generates thermal and athermic effects, the thermal ones being the most important for aesthetics. From the thermal effects caused by the application of radiofrequency, it is possible to evaluate the body temperature by means of thermography and by digital thermometer with infrared. The objective of this study was to review the literature on the use of RF to reduce the effects caused by aging and to compare the retention and thermal decay obtained through the clinical application of the two types of radiofrequency: capacitive and resistive . The experimental part was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Universidade Positivo (65648317.9.000.0093). Initially the selected participants signed the Free and Informed Consent Term, which were evaluated based on sociodemographic and clinical data, in order to meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Fifty women aged 18-35 participated in an RFCAP application on the inside of the right arm and an application of RFRES on the inside of the left arm. The evaluation was done before the application of the equipment (TPRÉ), immediately after the application (TIMED), after five minutes (T5), after 15 minutes (T15) and 30 minutes (T30) by digital thermometer with infrared and thermography. The data were analyzed in this study and we were able to confirm according to the results found that the physiological responses of RF CAP and RF RES are similar, since they do not show difference of thermal decline between the two types of RF.
