A fotografia como ferramenta de sensibilização ambiental com mulheres das comunidades remanescentes quilombolas da Lapa - Paraná

The role of women in sustainable development has a fundamental character since it performs activities that involve environmental education. More than necessary, it is urgent for women to have equal rights in society, as well as their protagonist role in sustainable development. The present case study analyses the living conditions of women in the remaining “quilombola” communities of Lapa (PR) and their relationship with the environment. The research objective was to build an awareness-raising proposal through image (photography), emphasizing the importance of environmental protection and care, as well as reflecting on the women’s role in these contexts and their contributions to minimize problems in their communities. Environmental education strategies were identified and applied through photography and traveling exhibitions in the remaining Quilombolas Communities of Feixo, Vila Esperança and Restinga. The research is of qualitative nature, with an interdisciplinary approach, which took place at the merger between photography in the context of environmental education and the relations of gender and ethnicity, using interviews from surveyed resident communities. In order to do so, community images were used in conversations, and also as a tool to identify key problem points and variables that determine the situation, such as identity, gender, women's work and the environment. Pre-structured interview scripts were used. Each participant in the group presented questions, which were incorporated into the themes covered and involved gender, ethnicity and the environment. The “snowball” technique was used for the data collection and was exhausted at the time of significant repetition of the information provided by the group. The research contributes to the articulation of the theoretical and practical discussion about the use of photography and visual anthropology in the environmental field, with the purpose of improving life quality and pointing out ways, having as a final result the production of educational materials that subsidize actions in conjunction with these traditional communities.
