The research was dedicated to investigating the use of pesticides in Brazil, understanding about the duty to inform consumers about such use in the face of food, thus enabling consumers to make a safe and conscientious decision in the choice of products they will consume. The objectives focused on the need to investigate and highlight the harmful potential of pesticides, as well as the duty to inform consumers about the use in cultivation, demonizing as such a duty has been employed in practice and how important it is to donate greater food security. The research adopted the methodological of bibliographic review and documental analysis. The results extracted show that in Brazil there is the exacerbated use and use of pesticides, as well as several injuries to consumer rights. The conclusion of the research highlights the need to preserve the right to information, which is indispensable for food security
