Microbial resistance to antibiotics occurs rapidly around the world, and particularly in the hospital environment. Therefore, the concern with prevention methods and actions regarding this problem is notorious. The term superbug refers to bacteria that accumulate genes capable of resisting the action of many antimicrobials used by physicians, particularly a class of carbapenems. In this context, the objective of the present study was to correlate with the prevalence of carbapenem’s- producing enterobacteria (KPC) in ICUs, with the proper management of hospitalized patients. A research reported with a literature review, where we found the prevalence of some species of enterobacteria in ICUs. Failure to use standard containment measures to combat nosocomial infections contributes to the emergence of superbugs. Therefore, health professionals can reduce risk factors and transmit these microorganisms, based on behavioral changes in health facilities.
