Resumo: Male and female Wistar rats were injected subcutaneously with CdCl² in order to study hematologically and biochemically the effects of cadmium in the blood. During the eight days after the administration of 0.4 mg / ml / day of CdCl², the following events occurred: 1) body weight was reduced; 2) cadmium reduced the total number of erythrocytes, the hemoglobin content, the hematocrit and the percentage of lymphocytes; on the other hand, the total number of leukocytes and the percentage of neutrophils in females increased; 3) CdCl² increased the percentage of neutrophils and decreased the percentage of lymphocytes in males; 4) there was an increase in aspartate aminotransferase and bilirubin, in addition to a decrease in creatinine in females; 5) in males there was a decrease in alkaline phosphatase and cholesterol. In the conditions of this study, the most evident changes were observed in the females treated with CdCl².

In the conditions of this study, the most evident changes were observed in the females treated with CdCl².Ratos Wistar, machos e fêmeas, foram injetados subcutaneamente com CdCl² com a finalidade de estudar hematológica e bioquimicamente os efeitos do cádmio no sangue. Durante os oito dias após a administração de 0,4 mg/ml/dia de CdCl², ocorreram os seguintes eventos: 1) o peso corporal estava reduzido; 2) o cádmio reduziu o número total de eritrócitos, o conteúdo de hemoglobina, o hematócrito e a percentagem de linfócitos; por outro lado aumentou o número total de leucócitos e a percentagem de neutrófilos nas fêmeas; 3) o CdCl² aumentou a percentagem de neutrófilos e diminuição da percentagem de linfócitos nos machos; 4) houve um aumento de aspartato aminotransferase e bilirrubina, além de diminuição da creatinina nas fêmeas; 5) nos machos houve diminuição da fosfatase alcalina e do colesterol.
