Resumo: The skin represents one of the largest organs in the body and is constantly exposed to chemical, physical and environmental factors. Neoplasms are the result of an autonomous and independent cellular process under the mechanisms of survival and control, being characterized by biological behavior as benign or malignant. In the tegumental tissue, the neoplasms represent up to 30% of the total tumoral diagnostic. They may have epithelial, mesenchymal and round cellular origin. The neoplastic diagnosis is based on cytopathology and histopathology exams. The usage of cytopathology allows the differentiation of inflammatory and neoplastic processes, however, the definitive diagnostic is only obtained through histopathological study, defined as the gold standard method. In view of the above, a retrospective study was carried out with the purpose of comparing the results of cytopathological and histopathological exams of cutaneous and subcutaneous tumors in dogs treated at a veterinary clinic in Caxias do Sul, from January 2019 to December 2021, regarding the cellular origin, biological behavior, neoplastic diagnostic and establish the reliability between the methods. The results found were expressed through the article entitled “agreement analysis and reliability of the cytopathological and hystopathological diagnostic about cutaneous and subcutaneous neoplasms in dogs treated in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul“, which will be submitted to the journal Ensaios e Ciência: Ciências Biológicas, Agrárias e da Saúde. It is concluded that cytopathology is an effective suggestive diagnosis, but incapable of replacing the histopathological examination, the only method capable of confirming the diagnosis; especially in cases where there is significant presence of inflammation.

Centro Universitário da Serra GaúchaBrasilDepartamento 1FSGSapin , Carolina da Fonsecahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1195228445760974Vanassi, Letícia Corrêa2022-12-12T13:36:23Z2022-06-302022-12-12T13:36:23Z2022-06-14info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfhttps://repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br/handle/123456789/4199porinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubasinstname:Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)instacron:CUB2022-12-12T13:37:10Zoai:repositorio.cruzeirodosul.edu.br:123456789/4199Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttps://repositorio.brazcubas.edu.br/oai/requestbibli@brazcubas.edu.bropendoar:2022-12-12T13:37:10Repositório do Centro Universitário Braz Cubas - Centro Universitário Braz Cubas (CUB)false
