Resumo: | The growing demand for electric energy, makes necessary to search for alternatives that can supply this input, and the most effective way to do this, is to use clean and renewable energies, which are also technically and financially viable. Among these four points aimed at a possible method of supplying demand, there is the repowering and efficiency of hydroelectric power plants, which in addition to increasing energy generation in the country, avoids environmental damage, because it works on an energy source renewable (hydroelectric) and in existing plants, which already have environmental licensing (which facilitates the fast implementation). In this way, it avoids all the degradation caused in the construction of a new enterprise, and the flooding of large areas for the construction of the reservoir. Based on this premise, the present work analyzes if the repowering of hydroelectric plants is feasible in practice, through case studies with a sample of plants located in the State of Paraná, with more than 30 years in operation and with power less or equal to 100 MW. The State has (March 2020) 53 plants, and in view of the availability of data and the representation of its characteristics (power and type of turbine) was selected, the Guaricana Hydroelectric Plant, with 39 MW, the Small Hydroelectric Plant of Apucaraninha, with 10 MW and the Hydroelectric Power Plant of Chopim l, with 1.98 MW. The results achieved in this work show an increase of 5.4 MW for the three plants with 50.98 MW of installed power. Achieving respectively economic return after 108 months for PCH Apucaraninha, 120 months for UHE Guaricana and 192 months for CGH Chopim I. |
