The present monograph will suggest a possible new way of analyzing the Latin American national-developmentalism that occurred in the 20th century - defining it as developmentalism on a municipal scale - with the internationalization of the city as one of the instruments to achieve it. It will explore a history of developmentalism in Brazil and Latin America, a reflection on the role of the municipal public authorities in favor of development and an investigation into the conceptualization and benefits of the city's internationalization process by reaching the role of political actor in International Relations. As a final part of the assignment, it will expose a proposal for a case study on Curitiba (Paraná, Brazil) as a case of a city where its City Hall - from the second half of the 20th century, may have implemented developmentalism, at the suggested municipal level. Also combined with the city’s internationalization, with the desire for the economic development and well-being of its population.
