Resumo: Brazil still struggles to discuss abortion as linked to women’s Human Rights and Public Health, even in cases covered by law. As a consequence, this context makes it difficult for girls, women and people with a womb to access proper health care in cases of pregnancy resulting from sexual violence. This article aims to discuss these issues in light of recent studies that yield the need for improving the culture of health care in cases of pregnancy resulting from sexual violence as well as a culture of respect for reproductive autonomy. Therefore, it is important to understand how categories such as gender, race and class can impact health care and access to justice in cases of pregnancy due to sexual violence. We also discuss specific issues related to the Distrito Federal, Brazil, considering data from the Pregnancy Interruption Program Provided by Law – PIGL.
