Resumo: | Misinformation has been the object of investigation by researchers from different areas of knowledge, such as Computer Science, Psychology, Information Science, Law, Education, Sociology and Communication, among others. It is characterized by being almost always accompanied by other informational phenomena that have gained notoriety in recent years such as post-truth, hate speech and disinformation bubbles. In an attempt to broaden the understanding of such a complex informational phenomenon in terms of the proportion that its impacts on society have taken, the contribution of critical theory to the study of disinformation bubbles is investigated here. In line with this problem, the research has as its general objective: to discuss critical theory as an alternative approach to the phenomenon of disinformation bubbles. In turn, it adopts as specific objectives: 1) to analyze the contributions provided by critical theory to the understanding of society's problems; 2) relate the concepts of information regime and critical information theory; and, finally, 3) explain the importance of critical information competence for understanding the phenomenon of disinformation bubbles. Due to its philosophical-historical, empirical and interdisciplinary nature, it is possible to see how much this theory can contribute to the clarification of such informational phenomena. In this sense, the present article adopts the bibliographic research, with a qualitative approach, and exploratory from the point of view of the objectives as a methodological design. From the theoretical contributions provided by critical theory, from Frankfurtian and Marxist bases, it is believed that it is possible to expand the understanding of disinformation bubbles, their functioning, their effects and how society can deal with this informational phenomenon. |
