Information needs of users of health information: perspective for health promotion and well-being

Resumo: The article presents the informational needs of health information users, focusing on health promotion and well-being. In the context of the 21st century, the importance of health information is explored in relation to illness, care, quality of life, well-being, and health promotion, focusing on both individual and social levels. The study hypothesis suggests that health information is fundamental to understanding these aspects and their relationships. The aim is to discuss the relationship between the informational needs of health information users and the promotion of health and quality of life, emphasizing informed decision-making. The research is justified by the need to explore the interaction between health information and health promotion. This is a bibliographic study with a qualitative approach, on a literature review of the theme in question in scientific articles in national and international databases in the area of Information Science and Health Science. The materials that provided theoretical support for this article were located in the Reference Database of Journal Articles in Information Science, Dialnet, SciELO, Web of Science, Lisa, Portal Capes de Teses e Dissertações, as well as magazines, journals, scientific events, manuals, and specialized dictionaries on the proposed topic. No time periods were set for retrieving the materials, but they were retrieved in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The variability of health information needs is addressed, related to factors such as prior knowledge, concerns, actions and culturally influenced care practices. Health information is considered vital for health promotion and well-being, covering diverse aspects such as medical conditions, prevention, healthy lifestyle, and access to health services. The role of health professionals as mediators of health information is explored, emphasizing their role in effective communication and patient empowerment. Brazilian legislation, including the Federal Constitution and the SUS Law, reinforces the importance of health information as a fundamental right and an essential principle in the health system. It is concluded that health information is fundamental to empowering individuals to make decisions related to health and well-being, contributing to a healthier society and health promotion. The study highlights the relevance of approaching health information as a right, and of considering users' informational needs in order to improve health promotion and quality of life.

En el contexto del siglo XXI, se explora la importancia de la información sanitaria en relación con la enfermedad, los cuidados, la calidad de vida, el bienestar y la promoción de la salud, centrándose tanto en el plano individual como en el social. La hipótesis del estudio sugiere que la información sanitaria es fundamental para comprender estos aspectos y sus relaciones. El objetivo es discutir la relación entre la necesidad de información del usuario de información sanitaria y la promoción de la salud y la calidad de vida, haciendo hincapié en la toma de decisiones informadas. La investigación se justifica por la necesidad de explorar la interacción entre la información sanitaria y la promoción de la salud. Se trata de un estudio bibliográfico con abordaje cualitativo, sobre una revisión bibliográfica del tema en cuestión en artículos científicos en bases de datos nacionales e internacionales en el área de Ciencias de la Información y Ciencias de la Salud. Los materiales que dieron sustento teórico a este artículo fueron localizados en Reference Database of Journal Articles in Information Science, Dialnet, SciELO, Web of Science, Lisa, Portal Capes de Teses e Dissertações, así como en revistas, periódicos, eventos científicos, manuales y diccionarios especializados en el tema propuesto. No se establecieron períodos de tiempo para la recuperación de los materiales, pero se recuperaron en portugués, inglés y español. Se aborda la variabilidad de las necesidades de información sanitaria, relacionada con factores como los conocimientos previos, las preocupaciones, las acciones y las prácticas asistenciales influidas culturalmente. La información sanitaria se considera vital para la promoción de la salud y el bienestar, y abarca diversos aspectos como las afecciones médicas, la prevención, el estilo de vida saludable y el acceso a los servicios sanitarios. Se explora el papel de los profesionales de la salud como mediadores de la información sanitaria, haciendo hincapié en su papel en la comunicación efectiva y el empoderamiento del paciente. La legislación brasileña, incluida la Constitución Federal y la Ley del SUS, refuerza la importancia de la información sanitaria como derecho fundamental y principio esencial del sistema sanitario. Se concluye que la información sanitaria es fundamental para capacitar a los individuos a tomar decisiones relacionadas con la salud y el bienestar, contribuyendo a una sociedad más sana y a la promoción de la salud. El estudio subraya la relevancia de enfocar la información sanitaria como un derecho y de tener en cuenta las necesidades informativas de los usuarios para mejorar la promoción de la salud y la calidad de vida.O artigo apresenta a temática da necessidade informacional dos usuários de informação em saúde, focalizando a promoção da saúde e o bem-estar. A hipótese do estudo sugere que a informação em saúde é fundamental na compreensão desses aspectos e suas relações. O objetivo é discutir a relação entre a necessidade informacional do usuário de informação em saúde e a promoção da saúde e qualidade de vida, enfatizando a tomada de decisões informadas. A pesquisa se justifica pela necessidade de explorar a interação entre informação em saúde e promoção da saúde. Trata-se de um estudo bibliográfico com abordagem qualitativa, sobre revisão de literatura da temática em questão em artigos científicos em bases de dados nacionais e internacionais da área de Ciência da Informação e Ciência da Saúde. Os materiais que deram sustentação teórica a este artigo foram localizados na Base de Dados Referencial de Artigos de Periódicos em Ciência da Informação, Dialnet, SciELO, Web of Science, Lisa, Portal Capes de Teses e Dissertações, além de consultas revistas, periódicos, eventos científicos,  manuais e dicionários especializados sobre o tema proposto. Não foram delimitados períodos para a recuperação dos materiais, mas os materiais foram recuperados nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol. A variabilidade da necessidade informacional em saúde é abordada, relacionada a fatores como conhecimento prévio, preocupações, ações e práticas de cuidado culturalmente influenciadas. A informação em saúde é considerada vital para a promoção da saúde e o bem-estar, abrangendo diversos aspectos como condições médicas, prevenção, estilo de vida saudável e acesso a serviços de saúde. O papel dos profissionais de saúde como mediadores da informação em saúde é explorado, enfatizando seu papel na comunicação eficaz e empoderamento dos pacientes. A legislação brasileira, incluindo a Constituição Federal e a Lei do SUS, reforça a importância da informação em saúde como um direito fundamental e um princípio essencial no sistema de saúde. Conclui-se que a informação em saúde é fundamental para capacitar os indivíduos na tomada de decisões relacionadas à saúde e bem-estar, contribuindo para uma sociedade mais saudável e a promoção da saúde.
