Inicia destacando a flexibilização proporcionada pelas Linguagens de Marcação, na editoração e no acesso aos documentos em ambiente Web. Avança apresentando as vantagens do novo modelo conceitual FRBR que ao eleger como prioridade as tarefas dos usuários (identificação, busca, seleção, acesso e aquisição) rompe com o paradigma tradicional que prioriza como pontos de acesso o autor, o titulo e o assunto e a descrição hierárquica.
