Resumo: | The aim of study is to provide a structured overview of sustainability issues and information management (IM) in order to build understanding of the intrinsic relationship between these two concepts, as well as the realization of this relationship in corporate environments via organizational culture from the perspective of Information Science (IS). The information in the business environment can be collected, processed, mediated, disseminated and interpreted in order to provide accessibility and monitoring in a systemic way of key elements of sustainability, such as economic efficiency, environmental conservation and social equity. However, the IM, with a view to adherence to these elements, may be dependent on the organizational culture inculcated in the actors that are part of this dynamic. It is proposed that the analysis of such aspects is valued in each process that makes up the IM, demonstrating that it has the potential to contribute as a driving element in the construction and monitoring of environmental sustainability. |
