Resumo: A field trial was placed at Surubim, Pernambuco State, Brazil, in 1981, on a sandy medium soil to study the effect of several mixtures of herbicides against weeds in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L). The experimental area had a balanced population of broad and narrow-leave weeds. The herbicides used were trifluralin, cyanazine, alachlor, pendimethalin, metolachlor, orizalin and diuron. The results showed that the cultivar tested SU 0450-8909 was resistant to the rate of herbicides and the mixtures were effective against weeds (mono and dicotyledonous). The most efficient broad and narrow-leave control was obtained by the mixtures alachlor + diuron (0.8 kg a.i/ha + 1.2 kg a.i/ ha), pendimethalin + diuron (1.2 kg a.i/ha + 1.2 kg a.i/ha) and metolachlor + diuron (1.8 kg a.i./ha + 1.2 kg a i/ha).

Das misturas herbicídicas, algumas foram aplicadas em pré-plantio incorporado e outras em pré-emergência em relação à cultura e às plantas daninhas. O complexo florístico da área experimental era constituído de plantas de folhas estreitas e folhas largas, apresentando taxas de populações aproximadamente equilibradas. O estudo foi realizado com misturas dos herbicidas trifluralin, alachlor, pendimethalin, cianazina, metolachlor, orizalin e diuron. Os resultados mostraram que a cultivar de algodoeiro (Gossypium hirsutum L.) SU 0450-8909 foi resistente às doses dos herbicidas utilizados e as misturas herbicídicas mostraram-se efetivas no controle de plantas daninhas de ambas as classes (mono e dicotiledôneas), principalmente as misturas de alachlor + diuron (0,8 kg i.a/ha + 1,2kg i.a/ha), pendimethalin + diuron (1,2kg i.a + 1,2kg ia/ha) e metolachlor + diuron (1,8kg i.a + 1,2kg ia/ha) que controlaram até aos 60 dias, 98% das ervas de ciclo anual.Pesquisa Agropecuaria BrasileiraPesquisa Agropecuária BrasileiraNóbrega, Laudemiro B. daBeltrão, Napoleão E. de M.Azevedo, Demóstenes M.
