Resumo: During 1984, in Ipanema farm, Sorocaba, São Paulo State, Brazil, a field experiment was executed to compare the influence of methods of weed control on bean yield: cultivation with rottary tiller; cultivation with cultivator-shovel; cultivation with row cultivator (CRC) prototype nº 6, chemical control associated with cultivator-shovel; chemical control associated with CRC; and chemical control using preplant herbicide. The efficiency of each method and equipament was evaluated by percentage of controlled weeds, pulling bean plants and bean yields. The mechanical methods used separately were applied two times according to the need of culture and, when associated with chemical control, were applied one time at 35 days after seeding. The results were analyzed and showed that the mechanical methods used separately presented yield statistically lower than chemical control, chemical control associated with cuitivator-shovel and chemical control associated with CRC, in the area where 90% of the weeds were Brachiaria plantaginea (Link) Hitch.

The results were analyzed and showed that the mechanical methods used separately presented yield statistically lower than chemical control, chemical control associated with cuitivator-shovel and chemical control associated with CRC, in the area where 90% of the weeds were Brachiaria plantaginea (Link) Hitch.Instalou-se em março de 1984, em solo Podzólico Vermelho Amarelo, altamente infestado com plantas daninhas, situado na fazenda Ipanema, Sorocaba, SP, um experimento de campo para comparar seis sistemas de controle de plantas daninhas na cultura do feijoeiro das secas: cultivo com cultivador rotativo; cultivo com cultivador convencional de enxadinhas; cultivo na fileira e na entre-fileira com cultivador misto de fileiras (CMF) - protótipo nº 6; cultivo químico associado com o convencional; cultivo químico associado com o CMF, e cultivo químico com herbicida do tipo pré-plantio incorporado. A eficiência de cada método e de cada equipamento utilizado foi avaliada por meio das percentagens de plantas daninhas controladas, de plantas de feijão destruídas e pela produção de grãos. Os cultivos mecânicos utilizados isoladamente foram aplicados duas vezes, conforme a necessidade da cultura e, quando associado com o cultivo químico, foram aplicados uma vez aos 35 dias após a semeadura.
