Soil-boron equilibrium reactions

Resumo: | Boron adsorption characteristics of selected acid soils from Paraná State, Brazil, were evaluated. Equilibrium concentration between soluble B and adsorbed B is consistent with a mechanism described by the Langmuir equation, except that deviations occur at solution concentration greater than 4 mg/l of B. Soils showed variation in their B-adsorption capacity. The maximum B-adsorption capacity of soils was little sensible under pH less than 6.5 but increased markedly in pH between 6.5 to 8.0. Adsorbed boron in the alkaline pH range was released by reacidification to the original soil pH, indicating the reversibility of the fixation reaction. The constant "b" values derived from the Langmuir equation increased with increasing the clay and organic matter content of soils. |

Foram avaliadas as características da adsorção de B por alguns solos agrícolas do Paraná. O equilíbrio entre os teores de B solúvel com o adsorvido pode ser descrito pela equação de Langmuir apenas para concentrações diluídas de B na solução (<4 mg/l de B). Os solos estudados apresentaram variações na capacidade de adsorção em função das suas características físicas e químicas. A máxima capacidade de adsorção de B pelos solos foi pouco sensível em pH inferior a 6,5 e aumentou marcadamente na faixa de pH entre 6,5 a 8,0. A reacidificação do solo ao pH original causou aumentos nos teores de B-solúvel próximos aos valores iniciais, indicando a reversibilidade da reação de adsorção. Os valores da constante "b" derivada da equação de Langmuir aumentou com a elevação nos teores de argila e matéria orgânica dos solos.
