Effect of nitrogen sources added to the soil and effect of Rhizobium japonicum inoculation on yield, protein and oil content of two soybean varieties

Resumo: A greenhouse experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of Rhizobium inoculation and different sources of nitrogen (ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulphate, and urea) on yield, protein, and oil content of the two soybean varieties IAC 70-25 and Mineira. Inoculation increased seed yield and percent protein to the same extent as did nitrogen treatments, and decreased percent of oil in the variety Mineira. Inoculation had no effect on the variety IAC 70-25, although it increased the number of pod loci without increasing the number of seed in both soybean varieties. The different nitrogen sources increased yield, protein content, and decreased oil content in the variety Mineira. Neither the percent of oil nor the percent protein in the variety IAC 70-25 was influenced by nitrogen source. The variety Mineira may have potential for increased seed production, since it responded positively to inoculation and nitrogen treatments.

The variety Mineira may have potential for increased seed production, since it responded positively to inoculation and nitrogen treatments.Em experimento executado em casa de vegetação, utilizando um solo Podzólico Vermelho-amarelo, foi estudado o efeito da inoculação e de diferentes fontes de nitrogênio (sulfato de amônio, nitrato de amônio e uréia) na produção de sementes, proteína e óleo de duas cultivares de soja (IAC 70-25 e Mineira). A cultivar Mineira respondeu à inoculação, aumentando a produção de sementes e o teor de proteína, tanto quanto os tratamentos que além da inoculação receberam nitrogênio, diminuindo, porém, o teor de óleo. A cultivar IAC 70-25, apesar de nodular eficientemente como a primeira, não apresentou aumento de produção no tratamento que recebeu somente inoculação. Esta cultivar, quando inoculada, apresentou menor número de sementes que nos demais tratamentos. A inoculação aumentou a percentagem de chochamento em ambas as cultivares, mais acentuadamente na IAC 70-25. As diferentes fontes de nitrogênio aumentaram a produção de sementes e o teor de proteína e diminuíram o teor de óleo na cultivar Mineira. A cultivar IAC 70-25 não apresentou diferenças entre os tratamentos quanto ao teor de óleo e proteína, mostrando, porém, maior percentagem de ácido linolênico no tratamento inoculado.
