Resumo: The aqueous extracts of different vegetable materials when used as humidifiers in germination tests of wild and cultivated seed species inhibited the germination or the devellopment of seedlings. These effects were specific. When these extracts were used in the irrigation of pots or when the plant husks where placed on the ground surface or incorporated in the soil, they inhibited the root or the foliar devellopment of some species, showing in some cases, effect on soybean nodulation. When the extracts were used as herbicides, in pre or post-emergence applications, they did not show herbicide effect.

Quando usados os extratos na rega de vasos ou os triturados das plantas colocados sobre a terra de vasos ou incorporados, provocaram a inibição de crescimento radicular ou foliar de algumas espécies, evidenciando, em alguns casos, ação sobre a nodulação da soja.
