Resumo: In a Dusky Red Latosol dystrophic, a field experiment in which the soil had been tilled in three different systems, measurements were made to compare the effect of the soil surface compaction caused by tractor's wheels after planting on bulk density, water retention, air capacity, infiltration and on yields of wheat, soybeans and oil raddish. In all tillage systems the bulk density and the water retention were found to be higher in the areas compacted by tractor wheels. However, the air capacity and infiltration were decreased in comparison to the non-compacted soil areas. The yields of wheat, soybeans and oil raddish were increased significantly in the compacted areas compared to the non-compacted areas, mainly in the conventional and chisel-plough tillage systems.

The yields of wheat, soybeans and oil raddish were increased significantly in the compacted areas compared to the non-compacted areas, mainly in the conventional and chisel-plough tillage systems.Num experimento em Latossolo Roxo Distrófico (Oxissolo), localizado no Centro de Produção e Experimentação do IAPAR, em Londrina, PR, foram estudados os efeitos da compactação causada pelas rodas do trator no momento da semeadura, em três sistemas de preparo do solo: convencional, escarificação e plantio direto. Avaliou-se, nas faixas compactadas (sob-rodas) e não compactadas (entre-rodas), a densidade aparente do solo, a retenção de água, o espaço aéreo, a infiltração, os rendimentos de soja (Glycine max L. Merrill), trigo (Triticum aestivum L.) e nabo forrageiro (Raphanus sativus L). Nas faixas sob-rodas, principalmente sob preparo convencional e escarificação, houve aumento da densidade aparente do solo e da sua capacidade de retenção de água, diminuindo o espaço aéreo e a infiltração de água no solo. As culturas apresentaram rendimentos significativamente maiores nas faixas sob-rodas, comparados aos obtidos nas faixas entre-rodas.
