Resumo: Worm free calves were put in the pasture in the begining (20 animals) and in the and (20 animals) of the rainy season and in the middle of the dry season (20 animals). Two animals were necropsied monthly in order to count and identify the helminths. The animals put in the pasture in the begining of the rainy season were more heavily infected with gastrintestinal nematodes than those put in the end of the rainy season and in the dry season (P<0.05). The helminths found at necropsy of the animals were Cooparia punctata, Haemonchus contortus, H. similis, Trichostrongylus axei, Oesophagostomum radiatum, Bunostomum phlebotomum and Trichuris discolor. No statistical difference in weight gain was found among the animals of the three groups.

No statistical difference in weight gain was found among the animals of the three groups.Bezerros holandês x zebu, nascidos nas estações seca e chuvosa de 1977 e seca de 1978 foram criados em gaiolas individuais até os 56 dias de idade (época da desmama) e em seguida transferidos para pastagens a fim de ser acompanhado o curso natural das infecções por helmintos gastrintestinais. Mensalmente eram feitos o controle de peso e a colheita de fezes para as contagens de ovos por grama de fezes e coproculturas, além da necropsia de dois animais. Os animais introduzidos nas pastagens no início do período chuvoso (setembro-outubro) apresentaram maior número de helmintos do que os animais introduzidos no final desta estação (fevereiro-março). Os helmintos identificados à necropsia foram Cooperia punctata, Haemonchus contortus, H. similis, Trichostrongylus axei, Oesophagostomum radiatum, Bunostomum phlebotomum e Trichuris discolor.
