Bean fruit development in different irrigation regimes

Resumo: The fruit development of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Goiano Precoce was followed at different time intervals by means of volume and dry weight changes. The relationship between these values and age of the fruits could be represented by a 1st and 2nd-grade polynomial function. Fruits from plants under a twice-a-week irrigation regime showed better development and weight gain. The influence of water regime upon the development of bean fruits was evident under the three irrigation regimes studied: the volume of the fruits was always higher in plants without water stress than in plants subjected to water stress.

Goiano Precoce foi acompanhado a intervalos regulares, através da avaliação do volume e peso seco, representados por polinômios do primeiro e segundo grau. Verificou-se que os frutos originados de plantas que tiveram frequência de irrigação duas vezes por semana apresentaram melhor desenvolvimento do volume e ganho de peso. Também ficou evidenciada a influência da água no desenvolvimento e rendimento dos frutos de feijão.
