Resumo: The metabolic disturbances represent one of the factors which cause low fertility in dairy cattle, and the alterations in serum levels of total cholesterol show a straight relationship with uterine infections. The efficiency of antibiotic intrauterine therapy immediately after the artificial insemination of repeat breeding cows with low total cholesterol level was verified. After 12 hours from the beginning of estrus, the females were artificially inseminated and submitted to blood collection (total cholesterol measurements) and intrauterine therapy. Concerning the treated animals, the rates of conception were 66.66% (animals with normal cholesterol) and 70.59% (animals with altered cholesterol); however, the rates of pregnancy in control animals were 69.23% (animals with normal cholesterol) and 47.36% (animals with altered cholesterol). The statistics results showed that the conception rate of the treated females with total cholesterol disturbance was higher (P ≤ 0.05) than control animals. These results show that this therapy is efficient in treatment of repeat breeder and hypercholesterolemic cows.

Pesquisa Agropecuaria BrasileiraPesquisa Agropecuária BrasileiraLemos Oliveira, Marcos Antoniode Oliveira, Paulo BasileuFernandes de Lima, PauloPessoa Guerra, Maria MadalenaPaes Barreto, Marcia BraynerFirmino Neto, José Ednalvo1997-05-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.sct.embrapa.br/index.php/pab/article/view/4676Pesquisa Agropecuaria Brasileira; v.32, n.5, maio 1997; 549-553Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira; v.32, n.5, maio 1997; 549-5531678-39210100-104xreponame:Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira (Online)instname:Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Embrapa)instacron:EMBRAPAporhttps://seer.sct.embrapa.br/index.php/pab/article/view/4676/7368info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2015-03-26T19:28:47Zoai:ojs.seer.sct.embrapa.br:article/4676Revistahttp://seer.sct.embrapa.br/index.php/pabPRIhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.phppab@sct.embrapa.br || sct.pab@embrapa.br1678-39210100-204Xopendoar:2015-03-26T19:28:47Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira (Online) - Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Embrapa)false
