Resumo: | Two polycross tests of Lotus uliginosus Schkuhr., with annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) and with individual progeny lines, were evaluated under the aspects of yield, growth rate and quality, during April/79 to March/81, in Guaíba, RS, Brazil. In test I, the progenies were sensible to ryegrass competition and the establishment was unsatisfactory. In the second year, during a dry period, the plants died and could not be adequately evaluated. In test II cv. Maku differed significantly (P<0.05) in the initial number of plant/m-1 in relation to the progenies 78-129; 78-147; 78-103; 78-118. In relation to mean height growth in cm/week-1 and mean height of plant in cm, cv. Maku differed significantly (P<0.05) from all the progenies. The mean total dry matter yield results in kg/ha-1 and flowering in days after seeding were significantly different for the treatments (Duncan P<0.05). Cv. Maku was the latest of all, and yielded 2,071 kg/ha-1. |

No teste I, as progênies foram sensíveis à competição do azevém e não se estabeleceram satisfatoriamente; no segundo ano, pereceram com a estiagem, não sendo, portanto, avaliadas. No teste II, a cv. Maku apresentou diferença significativa (P<0,05) para número inicial de plantas/m-1, em relação às progênies 78-129;78-147;78-103;78-118. Em relação à taxa de crescimento médio em altura em cm/semana-1 e altura das plantas em cm, a cv. Maku diferiu significativamente (P<0,05) de todas as progênies. Os resultados do rendimento médio total de matéria seca em kg/ha-1 e início de florescimento, em dias após a semeadura, diferiram significativamente (Duncan P<0,05). A cv.
