Resumo: Floating materials were tested in Class A evaporation pans for reducing evaporation tosses from free water surfaces. The covering materials consisted of impermeable disks of vermiculite covered with parafine and palm (Copernicia cerifera Mart.) wax; vitrified clay spheric balls; clay spheric balls without vitrification; and styrofoam disks rendered impermeable by a mixture of palm wax and melted parafine. Each of these treatments covered 80% of the exposed surface of the evaporation pan and controlled 54%, 60%, 50% e 61% of evaporation losses, respectively. These results clearly show that all these covers are viable in controlling evaporation losses.

Pesquisa Agropecuaria BrasileiraPesquisa Agropecuária BrasileiraPorto, Everaldo RochaAmorim Neto, Malaquias da SilvaSilva, Daniel Delfino da2014-04-17info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.sct.embrapa.br/index.php/pab/article/view/14638Pesquisa Agropecuaria Brasileira; v.21, n.1, jan. 1986; 1-7Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira; v.21, n.1, jan. 1986; 1-71678-39210100-104xreponame:Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira (Online)instname:Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Embrapa)instacron:EMBRAPAporhttps://seer.sct.embrapa.br/index.php/pab/article/view/14638/8332info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2014-10-16T18:28:48Zoai:ojs.seer.sct.embrapa.br:article/14638Revistahttp://seer.sct.embrapa.br/index.php/pabPRIhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.phppab@sct.embrapa.br || sct.pab@embrapa.br1678-39210100-204Xopendoar:2014-10-16T18:28:48Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira (Online) - Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Embrapa)false
