Resumo: | Two peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivars were evaluated for physiological behavior and resistance to drought in greenhouse conditions submitted to a 10 day period of watering suppression. The drought resistant (Nigeria 55437 - CNPA 76 AM) and sensible (IAC Tupã) cultivars were both potted and irrigated during 20 days after sowing. From this date on, only control plant received water while the other ones were submitted to watering suppression. The following parameters were evaluated: leaf temperature (Tf), diffusive resistance (Rs), transpiration (E), leaf water potential (Ψw) and proline concentration (P) on the leaflets. It was utilized adult leaflets from the high third of the main stem and completely extended. It were observed differences between cultivars and treatments studied. Nigeria 55437 showed high Rs and low Ψw and E when submitted to watering suppression. It showed high proline concentration even when was cultivated in normal conditions. It were observed negative correlations between Ψw x Rs and Ψw x P and positive between Tf x Rs, Tf x P and Rs x P during the suppression watering period. |
