Resumo: This study aimed to evaluate traditional and generic models to estimate the height-diameter relationship of Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis. The data used were from trees of different ages, sites and planting densities. Total height of the trees were estimate using ten models. The models were evaluate according to the adjusted coefficient of determination, standard error of estimate, relative standard error, bias, mean differences and standard deviation of differences. Beyond these statistics, the models were evaluated by plotting the observed height versus estimated height. There was a greater accuracy of the generic models.

Os dados são oriundos de árvores em diferentes idades, sítios e densidade de plantio. Foram avaliados dez modelos para estimativa da altura total das árvores. Os modelos foram avaliados de acordo com o coeficiente de determinação ajustado, erro padrão da estimativa, erro padrão relativo, viés, média das diferenças e desvio padrão das diferenças. Além dessas estatísticas, os modelos foram avaliados por meio da representação gráfica da altura total observada versus altura total estimada.
