Resumo: | Soil organic matter (MOS) plays fundamental role in the regulation and sustainability of forest ecosystems. The soil carbon fractions (COS) from planted forests makes possible assessing changes in the ecosystem, especially if compared to native forests. The objective of this research was to evaluate the organic carbon under planted forests, in the long-term. Total organic carbon (COT), light (COL) and heavy (COP) carbon fractions, as well as the carbon management index (CMI) of a Dark Red Latosol were evaluated under Eucalyptus grandis, E. pilularis, E. cloeziana, Corymbia maculata and Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis with 40 years old, and under a Seasonal Semideciduous Forest remnant. C. maculata kept the COS, COL and COP fractions and the IMC at similar levels to those found under native forest. It was considered the most efficient species in cycling and carbon stock in the soil, followed by E. cloeziana. E. pilularis. and the pine showed the lowest levels of carbon stock. |
