Equations for calculation of volume and weight of aerial compartiments of eight-year-old Grevillea robusta (Cunn.) trees

Resumo: | This paper presents results obtained for fitting equations to estimate volume and weight of aerial compartments of Grevillea robusta trees. Twelve trees representing four provenances were collected from an eight-year-old provenance trial located in the municipality of Anhembi, State of São Paulo. The trunks of the trees were segmented until the minimum diameter of 5 cm. The heartwood was measured till the height it was possible to be distinguished in the tree. Allometric models were the most suitable for this paper proposes. The inclusion of the combined variable (total height multiplied by the diameter at breast height) contributed to a better adjustment of most equations. The standard errors of the estimates were relatively high for heartwood and bark weight. It is worthwhile to point out the high correlation obtained among the weight of the leaves and sapwood weight. It deserves additional research face the high importance of the weight of the leaves to physiologically based growth models and practical difficulties of its estimation. The coefficients obtained for all models and variables studied are presented in the text. |

The coefficients obtained for all models and variables studied are presented in the text.Este trabalho relata a obtenção de equações para a estimativa indireta de volume e peso de compartimentos aéreos de árvores de Grevillea robusta, com base em variáveis dendrométricas de fácil obtenção. Para tanto, foram coletadas doze árvores com idade de oito anos, pertencentes a quatro procedências distintas, integrantes de um ensaio localizado em Anhembi, Estado de São Paulo. Os fustes das árvores foram segmentados em toretes de um metro até o limite mínimo de diâmetro de cinco centímetros. A altura do cerne nas árvores foi determinada através de cortes sucessivos até quando o cerne tornava-se indistinto. O compartimento da copa das árvores foi subdividido em galhos e ramos. Os modelos alométricos mostraram-se adequados para a obtenção das estimativas de volume e peso de compartimentos aéreos de árvores de Grevillea robusta. A distribuição de resíduos equilibrada não denotou qualquer tendenciosidade que tornasse necessário o balanceamento, ou transformação dos dados, além da transformação logarítmica das variáveis. A inclusão da variável combinada, altura total, multiplicada pelo diâmetro à altura do peito, elevado ao quadrado (H.D2), possibilitou ajustes mais precisos para a maioria dos modelos propostos. Entretanto, os erros padrão das estimativas foram relativamente altos para o peso do cerne e o peso da casca. As correlações altas entre o peso do alburno, pesos da madeira com e sem casca e a altura total são interessantes do ponto de vista prático. Considerando-se que o mesmo não ocorreu para o peso do cerne, este poderá ser estimado satisfatoriamente pela diferença entre o peso da madeira sem casca e o peso do alburno. O peso das folhas apresenta alta correlação com o peso do alburno, significando que o peso das folhas pode ser estimado satisfatoriamente através dessa variável. Esta relação entre alburno e quantidade de folhas deve ser pesquisada mais detalhadamente pela importância de quantificações de copa para modelos fisiológicos.
